“He knows me better than I know myself. “ This is how I reply whenever someone ask me why I take his advice seriously. I do not say that just because we grew up together under one roof, but I truly believe I can feel his influence on me.
We spent every single moment together. We played with his cars and my dolls, and we Invented ways to make them fun for both of us. We talked non-stop about every subject under the sun. We named every cartoon couple after ours and pretended that their adventures were ours. We fought a lot about petty things like when I would tell mom about something he did, he would get mad at me and vow that he would never talk to me again for his entire life. Less than an hour later you could see us as thick as thieves.
I looked up at him as my role- model. I used to think that he knows every thing and I believed every word he says. Maybe this belief came to me because he was the one who taught most of everything I know; from tying my shoe-laces to playing soccer. I still think of him as a wonderful, well-read, open-minded person.
Now, after we grew up and went our separate ways, in search of knowledge and education. I fathom that these things were not the only ones he taught me. He showed me that there is a solution to every problem, he encouraged me on every project I planned, he had faith in me that I could accomplish anything I want as long as I do my best.
Although we are living in different countries, oceans and continents separate us, the bind that hold us Is stronger than the distance. And I know that he will always be by my side and sometimes I imagine him whispering in my ears: “ You can do it, I believe in you”. Thus, my belief that one day when I accomplish my goals and realize my dreams, I will make him proud to be my brother.
